My Window Story

They say that when a door closes, another one opens. But the way I see it, when a window closes you can only see what 'could have been' through its transparent surface. They're devious and tricky, the way they allow you to see through them, yet don’t permit you to seize what lies beyond. On rainy days, they want to shape the way you think, so they distort everything on the other side. On sunny days they glare brightly so you can't see, blinding you completely, leaving you vulnerable. Whenever I gaze out of a window, it is as if the world comes alive through this pane of glass. It is like a gateway to an outside world, a conduit which transcends all barriers. The realization that every passerby has a life as unique and vivid as my own, dawns upon me and fills me with a profound sense of wonder and I cannot help but admire that in fact, what I see is myself too, the beauty reflected within as joy. This is a connection to our world, our universe, and our belonging.
